Are You Reading?

Hi There,

01 October 2013

Hustle & Bustle

For those of you who won't give up reading - c'mon, it's all boring now :)

Back To Work

Doug and I enjoyed our last week of freedom while the kids got settled into their new routine at school. Saylor was pretty freaked at the idea that her parents would be going back to work soon and she might have to go with strangers to school. After three days with our new neighbours walking with us, [...]

Great Time

Nice sail up the Strait but not near enough wind to really get going so it was a bit of a motor. Good to see Roger and hear the turmoil of the America's Cup and Oracle caught cheating. They'll be in for more turmoil when those crazy Kiwis make landfall in San Fran! We continued North and couldn't [...]

At Sea Again

Hard to break the habit of blogging once we are out on the water so had to post something even if no one is reading anymore. We have fit right back in to life ashore although both Doug & I haven't started work yet. We've been busy getting the house back in order which should have been easy except [...]

Home Stretch

02 August 2013 | Day 18 Hawai'i to Victoria
Susan
We are nearly home and the kids are so excited. They are playing full tilt trying to burn off that anticipation. The boat is a complete shambles which is pretty common on a passage. It`s just like home but add in throwing your room about. We have had lots of ships passing us by but we generally can only see their AIS transponders on the chart plotter. Doug was seeing a man about a horse and peed on a whale passing by. The dolphins keep returning for a visit and we`ve had several strands of Bull Kelp float by. We talked to Cdn Transport aircraft doing pollution patrol - that was our first chance to talk to someone from home. We are hoping they`ll fly by for a picture tomorrow as they did for Jeanne a few weeks ago. We heard Alouette made landfall in Port Angeles after an 18 day passage so it looks like we`ll be the same. That`s pretty impressive given it took us 30 days going the opposite direction.

We are still of mixed emotions heading home knowing we don`t have a home for LONG SHOT 2 so if you know of a spot, please let us know. We`ll be putting our beauty up for sale as it`s too long to stay idle tied to a dock. She`s such a sea kindly boat without needing a thing to head offshore - she`ll be a steal for whomever gets her.

The Champagne is chilling but with the winds starting to die so it`ll be tough to get in `Friday night. We will go drop the hook somewhere and head into the waterfront Saturday around 11. Please come down and help us celebrate. Just look for the best looking boat in the marina.
