Day One & Two
03 September 2017
Wow!! What a fantastic send-off - "E" Dockers are the best!!
Our first passage went fairly uneventful, all 300 yards from our slip to the pump out station. Here sits the captain in deep contemplation wondering if the holding tank will leak or maybe he's just dreaming. This stop though was not without problems. An hour into our trip south I noticed steam from the exhaust pipe, YIKES, that's not good. Shutdown and pull the intake screen and yup it was full of grass, arg! Thanks to the weed infestation at Southport. After that all went well.
Today is Sunday and Crowley's is closed and very quiet. So....it's time for some project work. Cruisers are always fixing, replacing or adding new stuff. This time it's a new charge controller. Alice snapped a picture of the captain hard at work. Just how many OSHA violations can you spot? It all turned out ok but it took me three tries to get the panel cut correctly, not a good sign and look at that mid-girth, I guess the captain needs to cut out the carbs.
Next is prepping the mast for its journey by truck to Mobile where we hope to be in early November. Thanks to all our "E" dock friends, we'll miss you!!
