What's changed??

We were last in Petersburg in 2014. It is our favorite town in Alaska.
Much has changed since we were last here though:
My favorite store has closed its doors,
we aren't on BLUE and able to take a quick day trip out to El Conte Glacier, the road out to our favorite hiking trail is closed for repairs,
and everyone is talking about the poor salmon fishing season they've had here this year.
Yet we had a great time...
The large chunks of ice still float down Frederick Sound
The tidal changes remain tremendous in the channel
The people are still friendly as ever!
The rain poured (as it can here), a good test for JURNEE - no leaks.
It held off long enough for us to have two great hikes around about.
Karen kindly gave us the run of her house so we showered (a wonderful luxury!), did our laundry and ate yummy smoked salmon and sweet potato chowder I made before I beat Nev in 3:13 AGAIN! The score now stands at 10:4 ๐๐๐
And today we stocked up on smoked salmon to bring home. They have a saying here I love:
"If you must smoke, smoke salmon."
So yes, much has changed...
but then again, so have we.
