It's beach party time!

The cloudy skies parted into a glorious morning as our Volutone staff and their families gathered at our little red house on the beach for a party -a celebration of spring and of life and of them and their hard work.
The kids and adults played volleyball, fished off the beach, collected shells and sea glass and any other gift the ocean was offering up to us that day. They played bocce ball and bean toss and sat in groups on blankets sharing food and friendship and laughter. It was the laughter I loved the most as I moved in and out of the kitchen and patio area replenishing ice and appetizers and preparing to serve lunch.
Nev barbecued the most delicious tri-tip alongside chicken skewers in a mango curry sauce.
I added homemade salads I'd prepared over the three days prior: roasted cauliflower with Israeli couscous in a curry dressing, three bean salad with a twist of lime and cilantro, kale salad with slivered almonds and Goddess dressing, GF pasta salad with artichokes, roasted red bell peppers and mushrooms (recipe courtesy of my sister), and good old potato salad courtesy of Costco!!
Dessert was freshly picked strawberries from the surrounding fields of Oxnard, homemade chewy brownies and rice krispie treats, topped with ice-cream and whipped cream... yummy!
The day flew by in a wonderful sticky way... the kind of stickiness you don't want to wash off because the lingering flavors and smells on your fingers and hands are so good!
The best compliment we received from the staff, amongst their many thanks in the days that followed, was a request to do it all over again at least once before we head back to Alaska :)
