Hidden in BLUE
30 June 2014 | Hidden Bay, Prince of Wales Island

What a difference a day can make.
It seems we are reminded of that often.
We woke up to grey skies and calm seas and I baked an apple crisp as we rounded Cape Chacon, notorious for being nasty, which we could see as we made our way through some tidal rips that could be intimidating in any other weather or sea conditions for sure!
We maneuvered our way through a mass of about 20 fishing boats off McClean Arm - fishing season has officially opened for the commercial guys and it was fascinating to watch the seiners lay their nets as we picked our way carefully through them.
Hidden Bay is a gorgeous land-locked bay, and was our last stop on the big island before crossing Clarence Strait to Ketchikan.
We loved it.
I kayaked while Nev fished.
He came home with a bucketful of black sea bass and lingcod...
me with happy tired arms and legs...
life was good and we were content right there hidden in our BLUE,
sharing the cove with two sitka black tailed deer we'd seen on our way in, and a mamma bear with her twin cubs we saw on our way out the next morning.
Lucky fish we are!
