A stupidly wonderful idea!
26 August 2014 | The Spit, Sidney Island
Maggie
We had a great trip down to Sidney from Nanaimo, making our way down Stuart Channel in great weather and sea conditions, but I cried a lot that day because it was so beautiful and because the reality of us leaving this way of life suddenly hit with full force and I was sad, really sad!
And so anchorage out at the Spit on Sidney Island sounded way more appealing than going into a marina for the night. The Spit is a thin stretch of sand that extends off the island and we crept in ever so slowly and carefully since the waters below us were shallow, as in 4 feet shallow at times!
We walked along the spit, me grumping at Nev about some ideas being adventurous and others being stupid!
I was quite sure this one fell into the "stupid" category because the tide was coming in and the spit would soon disappear!
But we walked it anyway and the tide did come in and parts of the Spit did disappear but the adventure of it all was wonderful and my tears were forgotten.
It turned out to be a stupidly wonderful idea after all!
I have a wise Kapitan :)
