Leaving only footprints...
01 September 2014 | Echo Bay, Sucia Island

The San Juan Islands are plentiful, and the choices of where to anchor endless.
Thankfully, people along the way guided us to the four locations we chose.
We walked 4 steep miles in Garrison Bay, following the trails the British Army had left behind when they occupied the area... stunning views of BLUE in the bay from the top... well worth the huffing and puffing to get there!
There were more boats at anchor in Reid Harbor on Stuart Island than we could count, but plenty of room for everyone. The 6 mile hike out to the lighthouse on the north point of the island was "energizing", especially the steep set of steps at the beginning and end!
Day three found us anchored in Echo Bay on Sucia Island.
I fancied the name of the island... I had a feeling it would be lovely, and it was . We walked 4 miles to the point on the west arm, and then my Captain declared "NO MORE WALKING!"
We had covered 14 miles in 3 days and I knew my time was up!
So we packed up a bottle of wine and some snacks and dinghied over to Edwin Cove on the east side,
found the bay completely empty as the Labor Day crowd had headed home...
We put our feet up on the driftwood that filled the beach,
and drifted ourselves off into a total state of relaxation!
Following orders posted about the islands,
we left only our footprints,
taking our tired feet, some great pics and fabulous memories back to BLUE!
