Blue is safely back home and we have had a wonderful 2 weeks finishing the sanding and then applying 11 coats of varnish - her last coat went on yesterday and she looks brand new! With Gren's help we installed 3 air conditioning units - had to be pretty creative where they went, lost some storage space, but it will be so worth it when we hit the Tropics!

We stripped her today.
It turned out to be quite a family affair. My mum, Nev's dad, Les and the kids were there, Heather, Senga and Hughey too. She looks like a fish out of water, but I think she's enjoying the attention.
BLUE went into dry dock on Tuesday this week. So much work is being done, I really feel as though our adventure have finally begun. We are less than 4 months away from our planned sail date, and while we have so much to do we are not feeling overwhelmed yet. Just lucky....
We are just getting rid of some of BLUE'S blisters, sanding the hull for a new coat of varnish. While she is out of the water, we have removed stabilizers and replaced bearings. A hole has been put in for the air conditioning and drain. We had the keel cooler cleaned, and today we have been using hot guns to remove all the old varnish, a safer job in dry dock than in the water.
My vocabulary has changed so much, Hep C and medical terminology seem to be fading and I'm understanding bilge pumps, bow thrusters, VHF, SSB, charts and lines. I'm learning about provisioning, and then, out of no-where ,a random thought like "How am I going to colour my hair, pops vaguely into my mind!
