Life here is all about the sea. Everyone has a boat. The local boats are dung out mahogany logs with an additional upstand along the gunnel. The boats are painted white, have an inboard diesel motor and stern hung rudder. Stephen is helping get an old one of Terry's back into working condition and is fitting a new engine so it will be a pretty fast addition around the place.

Port Royal, where LONG WHITE CLOUD is moored has no road access, so it's a boat ride into the nearest town to buy fresh provisions. The fruit and vegetables here on Roatan have to be shipped in from the mainland (or further) and are quite expensive.

Port Royal, Roatan is the home of our friends Terry and Patrice and is where they run a Salt Water Fly Fishing Resort. The bay itself is delightfully sheltered and is fringed with reefs- excellent for either snorkeling or diving. Our dive this morning was in good visibility and we saw some interesting coral.
