Groundhog Day in Key West
02 February 2012 | Key West, FL
Beth / 75 and lovely in the harbour
Shubenacadie Sam did not see his shadow at home in Nova Scotia, but he may have seen it here in Key West.
We've had quite a time of it doing the dance called, "Do we go - or do we wait?" We listen carefully to all sources of weather and we get Chris Parker's carefully composed routing and timing suggestions and we talk with our sailing partners on Yonder. But what it all comes down to is, "Are we personally, Jim and Beth, comfortable with this forecast for this particular trip on our boat, Madcap?" And the answer was a clear "No."
So we are still in Key West and I really don't know anymore when we might try to leave. It wasn't today, it won't be tomorrow.
But - we discovered a delightful garden at the East Martello tower, created and maintained by the Key West Garden Club, and we walked miles all over town and we enjoyed a lively chat with a live aboard fellow at Pepe's and the sun has set and we are safe.
And one of these days we will set sail for Isla Mujeres!
