We had a great picture for this entry but our small camera has been taken!
Sterling Hayden "The Wanderer" a good read!
Wrote to be truly challenging a voyage, like life most rest on a firm foundation of financial unrest. Voyaging belongs to seaman and to the wonderers of the world, who cannot or will not fit in. If you always wanted to sail to the South Seas, but can't afford it. What you can't afford is not to go. You are enmeshed in the cancerous discipline of security and in the worship of security. We fling our lives beneath the wheels of routine, and before we know it our lives are gone. The year's thunders by the dreams of youth grow dim where they lie caked in dust on shelves of patience. Before we know it the tomb is sealed. Where than lies the answer in choice what shall it be bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?
Turning Dreams into Reality has its draw backs as well as its rewards. Our tethers of reasonability are tugging at us hard. Trusted tenants are short on rent; our home state is in the middle of a drought. Dams are low, now the Federal Government is saying no water to farmers. Yet our state is working on a plan to tunnel water far below our home (Bethel Island) to send water to the southern part of California. The U.S. Government is sending Billions of dollars to foreign country's to help them grow olives to sell in our market. Friends have lost their crop sale contracts & because of this some have lost their farms. We worry about our orchard some of our trees are over 100 years old. We are hoping their tap roots are deep & that we haven't hurt their chances of survival with all the good care we have given them. And the young trees will they make through the hot summer months? Its stress full to care so much and yet know our personal quality of life line is short. My Mothers candle is fading; my Father in Law's candle of life went out last May. The Captain & I feel our candles flickering. We have lost loved ones family & friends as we sailed through the storms & calms of life. One thing we came to understand and except we can't change the tide just ride the waves. Believing this helps loosen the tethers pulling us off the sea.
