All cruising season we work on our "List" of needs & wants. Always remembering that everything has to fit into our constraints of budget & boat size. It's safety first, comfort second! Magic Carpets recent insurance survey showed the need to update flair's, fire extinguish & the need to recertify our scuba tanks & life raft. Lot's of small very important items to our smooth running systems need replacement & updates. The heat & humidity in Mexico is brutal to just about everything. Keeping on top of the care & maintenance is a 24/7 job. Our boat cleared the Surveyor sharp eyes with flying colors, great boat we have always taken good care of her and it shows! Amazon, UPS, Fed Ex & DHL made life easy in the "Land of Plenty". The Captain spent hours in his easy chair researching & ordering. It's great to be able to avoid road grid lock. We are out of touch with the patients it takes to drive USA roads & freeways. These days they are just stress makers for us. Magic Carpet is now on a completely LED light system, the industry is always updating the quality & availability of low draw items on our solar panels production. Entertainment possibility's have been enhanced again this season with more movies added to our western digital hard drive. And of course both educational & pleasure reading material have been added to our nook & book shelf's.
The Admiral spent a lot of time working in the supersize galley canning & dehydrating & smoking preparing for our eight season at sea. After seeing the riches & poverty south of the boarder it's impossible to let food go to waste. Everything seems to grow so plentifully at home. Peaches, Plums, Apricots, Grapes, Lemons, Walnuts & Pecans. We turned London broil strips into Beef Jerky and canned & smoked Salmon & Kokanee. Our home grown spices, Olives & Olive Oil always add a little luxury flavor to our daily life's. We shared our fruits & nuts with family, friends & the local Sr. Center. It's truly a land of plenty. We will eat well once again aboard our little but mighty sailing vessel. Yes the Captain always worries about our water line, but never complains at meal time!
Visits with family & friends highlighted our time in the states, that is the sad part of turning "Dreams into Realty". We never have enough time with family & friends. We will be sailing south again as soon as weather permits.
