OK, I know I should have updated this blog but............. we are currently on a mooring in Annapolis for the week. We departed the Bahamas the last week of April and did an overnight sail to arrive at sunrise off Ft. Pierce, Fl. inlet. We happen to arrive when all, and and I mean all, the local sport fishermen were heading out the inlet to compet in the local fishing tournment, what a zoo, especially after spending the winter in the Bahamas.
We spent a week in Vero Beach, along with Cookie Monster, replacing our house batteries which were on their last leg as they were almost 4 years old. After Vero we spent two days at Kenndy Space Center and were amazed how fascinating it was, ever since Hoku has been building Space Shuttle paper models and set up her own launch simulator in the v-berth and her questions regarding space have been constant.
We spent the next two weeks making our way up the ICW with a few nights in Charleston SC where we met up with the crew from Virage. From Charleston we bee lined it to Annapolis taking the ICW the entire way as the weather wasn't cooperating for an "outside" trip. Traveling on the ICW is quite interesting, dolphins are constantly swiming along, you see small rural "low country" villages and towns and the boat is treated to a brown waterline from the murky water. Often we'd be motoring for hours on end without seeing another boat much less a house or any sign of civilization.
On Sunday I'll head up to Maine for the week to get the house ready for our first guests of the season who arrive on Sat. After I check them in I'll fly back to Annapolis and we'll continue our northward voyaging. I'll try to update this more often from now on, Aloha.
