Boat Projects

The cover came off Makana last week and the boat projects have begun. I have a fairly long list of projects with the engines having almost 1500 hours on them requiring attention. The heat exchangers were pulled and cleaned, fresh water drained and replaced, fuel filters replaced, a new raw water pump installed and new impellers. There are two propulsion engines and the generator on Makana so everything is done in three's. The sail drives were drained and props pulled while I wait for oil seals which need to be replaced as it can only be done with the boat out of water. The port side head which we didn't use last summer needed attention which turned into a multi-day project which ended in success! The weather here has been wet so no work has been done on the topsides. There is an advantage on working in Southwest Harbor, access to the carriage roads in Acadia Nat'l Park which the above picture shows yesterday bike ride to Bubble Lake and Jordan Pond
