Home sweet Home

After launching Makana we spent the night in the fog and rain in Southwest Harbor. The following morning started out foggy as we departed for Camden. I spent the first hour staring at the chartplotter and blowing the horn every two minutes as the fog was "pea soup" thick. In these situations Katie sits on the bow looking for lobster pots and the horns or other vessels while I stare at the chartplotter. After we passed Bass Head Lighthouse condtions improved and we had sunshine the rest of the 36 mile trip to Camden. There was no wind so it was a motor but it was great to be back on the water! We are looking forward to a fun summer here in Maine. We ran our first charter of the season this past Sunday and it was also our first opportunity to sail, hitting 8 knots of boat speed in 12 knots of wind.
