After two days in Boston we departed in the fog and motored south to Plymouth Harbor we we sighted the Mayflower. The next day the passage south was not the most pleasent, Buzzards Bay is not the place to be with any type of wind from the south. And of course that is exactly what we had wind from the south with thick "pea soup" fog added for a backdrop. Then after departing Buzz. Bay we encountered large swells off RI which escourted us into Newport Harbor. We spent two nights in Newport then motored in the fog to the Thimble Islands in Long Island sound for the night. The following day, in the fog which has become the norm, we motoered to Port Washington NY. A good night sleep there with light rain all night had us departing late morning, in the fog, to time our passage thru Hellgate and down the East River. Once we cleared NY harbor we were actually able to sail across the bay to anchor in Atlantic Highlands NJ. We'll be here a few days waiting for favorable weather while visting family and friends before we head south hoping to be in Annapolis by Wed. And this morning the sun has made a "guest" apperance for the first time in quite a while! The above picture is of lower Manhattan with the Freedom Tower under construction.
