Shrimp

Yesterday afternoon we crossed the border between North and South Carolina. There is a certain satisfaction that comes along with going from somewhere with a name of "north" to "south" especially when you are traveling southward at around 8 miles per hour. It's been cold the last few days, waking before sunrise to an inside temp of. 42F. I'm usually up first and fire up the generator followed by the heaters before the rest of the crew even thinks about getting out from under their down sleeping bags.
After anchoring in the Calabash River and then reanchoring, seperate story, we set off in our dingy to visit the small fishing community of Calabash which is actually in N Carolina. Once ashore we strolled the waterfront and bought some fresh shrimp and clams from a vendor on the dock. After returning to Makana with our dinner Hoku and I decided to try our luck at crabbing. We set our one trap along with one dropline off the stern. While Hoku persued her favorite anchorage activity of swinging off the front haylard and I cleaned the shrimp. We landed or "boated" two crabs to add to our seafood dinner.
Today the skies are clear the sun is warm and we are
making our way south of Myrtle Beach, gotta go.
Aloha
