Updates

20 November 2013 | St Augustine
Rick
We arrived in FL on Oct. 23rd and spent the night aboard Makana on the ground in St Augustine. Since our insurance won't allow us to put the boat back into the water until after Nov. 15 due to hurricanes the next morning we departed St Augustine to spend the next two weeks in Disney World. We had a great time there, enjoying the Wine & Food Festival at EPCOT, in addition to sampling great foods and wines from around the world we were entertained by Smash Mouth, Christopher Cross & Styx. For Halloween we dressed up and had a blast in the Magic Kingdom and later went trick-or-treating in the campground where we stayed. The water parks were fun and the Areosmith Rock-n-Roller coaster with its 3 inverted manuvers was a highlight for both me and Hoku.
The past 10 days we've been busy working on the boat. As any boatowner familiar with being on the hard knows the days are labor "intensive". 20+ man hours sanding and painting the bottom with 2 gallons of Micro 66, 60+ man-women hours waxing topsides, having the chain & anchor regalvinized, re-rigging mainsail, stack-pac, jack-lines, genoa, davits, lifelines, cockpit enclosure, new zinc's, ploishing props, changing fuel filters (8total), new impellers (3 total) new belts (8 total), replacing bearing in raw water pumps (2 total), removing and cleaning heat exchangers (3 total), cleaning water tank, polishing stainless (which as the name implies is stainless not rustless!) and still on the to do list; go up the mast to clean and inspect the rigging,so I gotta go!
