Not a Merry Christmas for all

16 January 2014 | Staniel Cay
Rick
Be grateful for being from the greatest nation on our planet. This picture is of a partially sunken vessel located off Staniel Cay in the Exumas. The USCG and Royal Bahamian Defense Force were called in on Christmas Day to assist as there were close to 100 Haitians aboard the 43 foot vessel which was in distress. The Haitians sailed over 300 miles from their island hoping to seek refuge in the Bahamas or the US. Unfortunately 30 died during the passage and those that survived were taken back to Haiti. Even if the Haitians made it to the US they would have been returned to Haiti as opposed Cuban refugees who are given asylum once they “touch” US soil.
