On our way

After a run down the Chesapeake Bay we are currently in Elizabeth City NC and its cold as in a high today of 30F! Living aboard a boat has its challenges; it seems there is always something that needs to be “fixed”. So when both of our heads (AKA toilets) need “attention” it was time to tackle the project. It is rare when working on a boat project that I don’t sacrifice some skin and so it was completing the head project, hence the picture.
This has been by far the coldest trip we’ve done aboard Makana and with the forecast low tonight in the 20’s there is no relief in the immediate future. There have been several unexpected advantages to “cold cruising”, we are saving a bundle on sunscreen ditto for energy spent on cooling our refrigerator. I get to wear every piece of clothing I own and Hoku has gone into hibernation mode rarely coming out of her berth and we have most of the anchorages to ourselves.
