With so much going on at home we forfeited our original flights to Portugal and returned via Berlin. We arrived to snow and -15 degrees. Laura booked us into a backpackers hostel for 4 nights and put on a fantastic tour of the sights. She is studying there this year so was familiar with the transport and what was worth seeing.
Really loved the place. There is so much recent history in evidence as you tour the city; the dreadful events which happened in our parents, and our lifetimes explained in detail, all of which I found fascinating. The people were friendly and everything efficient and sensibly priced into the bargain. We can see why she is enjoying her time there.
