Snakes and Ladders

When anchored once again at Alcoutim we took the chance to do some early morning walks. On both the Spanish and Portuguese side of the river numerous walks are marked and maintained. Other than the now almost routine wonderful birdlife we also met the noisy donkeys that had been wakening us, saw a rat up a tree and came across this snake, at around 1.5 meters long, happily pursuing some prey inside a hollow tree. The internet revealed that it was not poisonous and is called a ladder snake. What a game!
