We have enjoyed our stay in Boot Key Harbor in Marathon. There is a nice community of boaters here. It's protected from winds during bad weather and the city makes it a welcoming place.

Shorts, sandals, and sunny skies
We have been enjoying our stay at "Velcro Beach" and understand why people have named it thus. Life is pleasant here and you have access to the town via the free bus. It's not a fast way to get around but it is convenient!
Just Beachy!
A dredge, with 2 tugs and miles of pipes, labored up the inlet. We found him along side the Little River up a ways setting up an operation to deepen the channel for the casino boats.
We left the channel beyond the R8 to anchor behind Bird Island in 13 feet of water. After settling in, we launched the dinghy and went to walk the beach. Such a beautiful place, our best yet! There were dunes, wildflowers and lots of high grasses. A very wild and unspoiled place.
We then dinghied up these fingers of water between the reeds and salt marshes. Clams squirted up out of their holes and mussels lined the banks.
Anne perfectly cooked up the fresh your we bought from the fish monger, along with broccoli and potatoes for a great meal.
A perfect day and night!
