DOWN FOR THE COUNT IN FIJI
27 August 2010 | SUVA, THE CAPITAL OF FIJI

Am held up in Suva City having been sideswiped by a nasty fjijian cold/flu. Luckily, my generous hosts Juris and Sulu are allowing me to stay here while I go through the days in bed and then recuperate. Out to sea, there are no bugs and so an extended stay on land amongst numerous and very colorful ones, puts a sailor immediately at risk.
The weather has been another factor in finding me still here....very light and contrary winds might have made the last leg to Australia a long and engine filled one. On about September 1, according to my New Zealand weather router and corroborated by my colleague Clyde, the SE trades will apparently pick up again and hopefully blow me to Brisbane.
