Of my long path, I can say that this leg, from Ascension, has been the most temperamental and at times frustrating leg of all. Not the most dangerous but absolutely enigmatic to distraction. Today I have been becalmed twice and wind has ranged through 270 degrees from 0 knots to 25 plus. In one of those becalmed states, I jumped in the water to try to free the hulls from some of the barnacles spoken about yesterday. (Its always an unnerving leaving the boat for the deep deep blue despite being tethered in.) Well, it wasnt 5 minutes after exiting the water that we were in 25 knots of wind and another squall...its damn lucky I got aboard when I did!
