DAY 39 ETA MAY 21 THE ANTILLES CURRENT
16 May 2012 | En route to Riviera Beach, Florida

This is the third day of consistent winds. However, an element that I had not counted on has entered into the equation of 'eta'ing' - the Antilles Current. It is pushing Shearwater from behind, adding from 1-2 knots. As a result, slowly, very slowly, I was cutting off a day on the arrival and for many reasons, dont want to do that. Accordingly, I have reefed the jib and put out a warp to slow myself down. Im not entirely comfortable with this approach, as the rule, under normal circumstances, is 'dont slow, get there, then wait'. But this is not a normal landfall, hence the slowing actions.
Very nice day, but looks squally tonight...ETA remains.
