Today is Electon Day! Do you take your child to the polls with you? Marianna attended last time with me but was distracted by a big Golden Retriever, (surprise, surprise) and never actually made it to the booth with me.

This year? We may try again!

In preparation we ordered up several books at the library including Vote! and D is for Democracy: A Citizen's Alphabet.

And in honor of our boating neighbor, Denise Corbitt-Coppola who handed Marianna a Susan B. Anthony coin the other day and Marianna could not tell her a thing about Susan B. Anthony (!), I've put together a nice little mini unit on this important lady for tomorrow as well. The star of which just may be a new book at our library, Madam President: The Extraordinary, True (and Evolving) Story of Women in Politics. It looks like a very engaging way to connect the past to the future!

We may have strawberry stars for a snack, mmm! Slice a strawberry thinly using a knife or an egg slicer. Arrange 5 slices in a 5 pointed star. Fill center with whipped cream or ice cream if you have a freezer. Sprinkle with blueberries and enjoy!
