In Bahia Santa Maria

We are in Bahia Santa Maria, just a few miles from San Carlos, BC. (San Carlos is on Magdelena Bay, weÂ're just across the strand in Bahia SantaMaria) We arrived about 11PM and getting into the harbor and getting anchored was fun in the dark, but we prevailed and got situated and got to bed about 1AM.

This morning we enjoyed a late sleep-in and we did a little exploring in the dinghy and did some swimming in the 76 degree ocean water. Our weather today has been fantastic! Probably around 80 and a light breeze. We have been really lazing around today and enjoying it. Tomorrow there is a beach party and we will be able to get food and drink from some friendly locals that set up a spread for us!

We are scheduled to leave for Cabo at about 7 AM on Wednesday and should be there sometime Thursday. ThatÂ's all thatÂ's fit to print now.

I hope you get a chance to go ashore and explore the beach. You will find lots of sand dollars and sea shells at the beach but watch out for the rays!

Here we are out to sea again and yes catching some fish now. We caught a 48 in. Dorado nice big fish it was a challenge to get on Marsha Dee and cut up, Jeanette cooked up a pan full and it tasted very good now we have enough for tacos and 2 more meals wish we could serve you all some. We should be in Bahia Santa Maria late tonight. The weather is definitely getting warmer-near 80 degrees today, and the water temp is up to 71. When we passed the Coronado islands on Monday, I discovered that the Mexico charts that were supposed to be loaded into my chartplotter, were not there. We just sailed into oblivion. Fortunately, Darwin has a tablet w/ a nav program that has Mexico charts. West Marine is going to get an earful when we get back. More tomorrow.

This is FredÂ's brother Don reporting for the moment. We are figuring out how to post on the satellite fone and this is our first attempt, so be patient with us!

We left Turtle Bay (Bahia Tortuga) this morning at about 7AM. (Haha time) We have sailed about 25 miles so far today and have transitioned to the course that will take us the rest of the way after passing Punte San Roque about ½ hour ago. (about 130 degrees mag)

Fred and Darwin have been busy fixing things and cleaning. Darwin caught a nice piece of kelp, but we thru it back. (Too Small) ;-) Jeanette is keeping us fed well and I, of course, am taking crabby lessons from my older and wiser brother. (Captain Crabby)

More real news if this makes it. I apologize to all you Â"realÂ" boaters, Â'cause if it ainÂ't a jeep I donÂ't know about it! Don

Fred is going to figure out how to post yet! And to type! Give us credit for getting something up, it was a struggle with the very slow free wifi at the bar here in Turtle Bay. The beers are good, cold and cheap, so it makes up for the slow internet.

These stairs are really a challenge to get up and down and the wood dock is very rocky beer or no beer there is always friendly help. But I did get a hot shower on shore. Darwin

Fred's first day's
No wind - then too much - then OK
10/28/2011, Coronado to Turtle Bay

We got off fro Coronado Roads at 11 am. Ee did a 'Rollng Start' (motoring) because of NO WIND We rnded Coronado about 14.45 pm and discovered that the Mexico Chart that was suppsed to be loaaded into my chatplotter ended about 2 miles so. of the Coronados. Garmin is going to get it when I get home. Fortunately we have paper charts & I have Meico Sharts on my hand held. Darwin also has charts on his tablet.

We motored the est of the day and all night and at 0700 on Tuesday the wind came up and we bega sailing. By laate affternoon there was too much wind and we had to reef the ain and gonoa. With the quartering swells and wind, the autopiolet couldn't steer the boat.

After a very rough night, we changed course for Cedros Island and during the day, the wind befgan to abate so. Not wanting to enter TurTle Bay at night I decided to achor at the south end of Cedros. The cove is called the Cedros Yacht Club, and because we were the first boat anchored, I became the Commodore. Later a sport fisher came in, but he only got to e Bice Comadore. We're curretly passing the south ed of Cedros Island.. On our way to Punta Euenia (about 8 miles) and then to Turtle Bay (about 15 miles). And, we arrived about 3pm. So there we are ... until nex time.
