Send Off Breakfast

12/01/2011, Golf Coarse Mazatlan

Well I had a great breakfast along with a bloody Mary on the way to the airport what a great way to end my part of the trip at this beautiful location. Fred says he wants to come back and play some golf and he really enjoyed the ride through town with all the construction and detours ha you know I'm kidding. I think it was worth the ride. Much thanks to Fred and Jeanette for making this a wonderful time for me it was great to be part of their crew. I wish Fred and Jeanette a safe and fun time as they continue their adventure. Darwin

I think you should paint it white with an orange/yellow stripe, and maybe a contrasting color to spiff it up. Definately golssy with clear-coat, tho....
Marsha Dee dries out

11/29/2011, Boat yard, Mazatlan

Well, yesterday, Marsha Dee got hauled out for her new paint job. I still haven't decided what color to paint her. I was originally considering black, but everyone's talking me out of it because of heat, upkeep, and it costs more.. We're now considering gray or white with a colored stripe below the rub rail. Anyone have any ideas? I still have a few days before I have to decide.
There will be a free pitcher of margaritas for anyone that comes up with a winning idea.
It will probably be about three weeks until the boat is finished, so we'll be confined to dry land until then.
Today, we're going up to El Quelite and then tomorrow, Darwin leaves. We'll miss him, but I'm sure his family will be glad to see him.
That's all for now.

I'm still going with the Tecate look with red and black.
On dry land
Capt. Crabby,
11/26/2011, Torres timeshare, on the beach

Well, we're starting our stay on dry land. Yesterday, we moved from the boat to a nice timeshare on the beach, just north of the zona Dorada, very quiet and peaceful. Darwin decided to stay on the boat last night, I think he'd had enough of us! He'll be joining us today until he leaves next Wednesday. We're really going to miss him, he's been a BIG help, and a very pleasant companion. Thanks, Darwin.
I've made arrangements to have the boat painted here. It's being hauled out Monday at the Singlar/Fonatour yard and I got an attractive price from a Co. called Groupo Naval. They say it will take 18 days, but that could be Mexican time. We're here for a week, then at The Inn at Mazatlan with Jeanette's sister-in-law for a week, and then with our friends, the Camilles, in Teacapan, for a while. We'll probably head south about Jan. 1.
We thought it would be great to get on dry land for a while with a real shower, etc., but oddly enough, we're actually missing the boat, inconvenient as it is.
Next week, we're planning to take Darwin up to El Quelite, a very quaint colonial town north of her, before he leaves. We'll keep you posted about our adventures on dry land.
More later,
Capt. Crabby

11/23/2011, MZT

Just a quickie, I posted a couple of entries between San Jose and Mzt on the sat phone, but apparently they didn't go through.
One note in particular, I wanted to thank Glen and Sally for the wireless intercom. It's great for anchoring, no yelling. We were watching other boats coming into Los Frailes to anchor, and got a big kick out of all the yelling.
Thanks again, guys.

Los Frailes

Before mazatlan we had spent a few days in Los Frailes. It was a bit of a rough ride part way up there as the wind started to blow straight on our nose. The boat did great and handled things just fine just a little slow at times 3.5 to 4 knts. The anchorage was just great smooth and calm with beautiful beaches and some of the best swimming and snorkaling ever. However there was no bar or resturant here we will have plenty of that in Mazatlan. Left Frailes at 5am saturday and got to Mazatlan about 10am Sunday.
