I just looked out over the marina and saw a giant OYC burgee flying. I went over and Alchemy has apparently just finished the SD to PV race. Unfortunately there was no one on the boat, but at least now there are 2 OYC boats in the marina.
last night we went with some friends to El Colequita for dinner, better known as "109" because all of the dinners are 109 pesos, (about $8.50 US) and include several shots of tequila, shrimp soup, salad, a huge seafood entree, after dinner drink and dessert! The entrees are so large, we brought half home and had another meal.
Eating out here is so reasonable and good, we don't cook much.

Well, last night we finally made it to Tacos-on-the-street. We went with Frank and Stephanie from "Endless Summer". The tacos were great, although the price has gone up to 15 pesos (about $1.20 US). I had 4, and I was stuffed!
Last week, I caught a cold and wasn't feeling too well, but on Thursday, we motored over to Punta Mita and then sailed all the way back. It was a really nice sail, and the weather was just right. Next week, we plan to go over to Punta Mita and anchor for a couple of nights and then go to Las Tres Mariettas islands and check it out. Frank and Stephanie are going to take "Endless Summer" as well.
There is a lot of activity in La Cruz right now. Today is the beginning of La Copa de Mexico J-24 races, an international event that is connected with the Pan-American games and the Olympics. There are over 50 J-24's here, and the racing starts tomorrow. This is going to be followed by the MEXORC ocean races, which start in about a week. A lot of the boats from the SD-PV race will enter, I believe. We heard a report yesterday that some of the SD-PV boats were making 22knots!
The whole town of La Cruz has been a bustling construction zone for the last couple of weeks, re-paving the streets, putting up venues for the races, re-doing the town plaza etc. It's really looking nice, and they even installed a small swimming pool in the marina.
Last night, we visited a small gift shop in La Cruz and found that the owner, who also sells Real Estate here, is from Oceanside. We had old home week with him, a really nice young fellow married to a lovely local girl.

"A palapa in Yelapa beats a condo in Redondo". I think that's an old song or something. Anyhow, we sailed over to Yelapa yesterday from La Cruz, about 15nm, and it's a very pretty little cove. We took a panga ashore, and had a nice lunch in a palapa in Yelapa. As you can see from the picture, we made a new friend. Regretfully, we didn't bring C-monkey ashore to meet our new friend. Darn!
We had a nice sail back in the PM, and were back in La Cruz by 5pm. We didn't see any whales this time, but it was a clear, sunny day, something we haven't had much of lately. There's been some trough hanging over the area producing a lot of clouds. However, it's still warm so we're loving it.
Our current plan is to stay in La Cruz for a few more weeks, and take 2-3 day side trips to various anchorages and marinas in the Banderas Bay area and then take a couple of weeks heading back to Mazatlan and anchoring along the way at various cool spots. We plan to leave the boat in Mazatlan over the summer and then come down next winter and do the Sea of Cortez.

On Monday, we went to Sayulita, a very picturesque village on the beach north of here, and the surfing capital of the Riviera Nayarit. Jeanette's daughter-in-law has an artist friend who owns a home there so we visited her and toured the town. Very nice, quirky architecture and very arty. It was a neat trip.
Yesterday, we took the bus into PV, (Mr. Toad's wild ride), walked the malecon, had lunch and went to Costco. The Costco here is just like the one in San Marcos, except the prices are in pesos.
We took a taxi back as we had too much stuff to take on the bus. A taxi fro PV to La Cruz was only 300 pesos (about $24.00 US for a 25 mile taxi ride!)
Anyhow, all is well, we're enjoying ourselves, and we'll be here probably thru next week until Jeanette's daughter-in-law leaves.
More to follow, and by the way, we're sorry we are missing the La Playa raftup.

Well, we're still in La Cruz. It's really nice here, and the slip rent is pretty reasonable. We've met some neighbors and have gone to Philo's for dinner a couple of times.
We were planning to go to Nuevo Vallarta soon, but we had to go there yesterday to get some papers notarized, and the Paradise Village area is like being in San Diego-all Americans and Canadians, it doesn't seem like Mexico.
Sill, maybe we'll go there soon.
Jeanette's daughter-in-law may be coming for a visit, so we're waiting to hear from her.
We had to dump our holding tank, so we decided to go out for a sail yesterday, so we went out for 4-5 hours and just followed the wind and had a great sail, no motor!
Tomorrow night, we're going out to a fancy? restaurant called Chocolat, I believe, with some people we've met here. Sounds nice.
Nothing else exciting, we'll update later.
