ABOUT READY TO GO

04 April 2012 | San Diego
C.Farias
Mauliola and us are about ready to take off in our sailabout. It has been a long 2 winters and a long wait but it was worth it. Mauliola is now a sea worthy, comfortable and properly set up vessel. She is indeed a high maintenance lady and Jerry has spared nothing when it comes to her. I see my inheritance (or alimony) going out to sea every day.
These weeks here in San Diego were almost all spending on fixing her up. We had the luck to find a fantastic boat builder here at the Shelter Island Boatyard, Es Ivarssen, who does better than an excellent job. He is a rare gem in an industry that is plagued with problems.
We have taken a few days to do sea trials and sail with friends. We had the honor to take Marlin Rubin's ashes to sea, for her last voyage. Mike and his family came along for that very special day.
Now we are provisioning and getting last minute things (millions of them) done prior to departure.
I got to go, more shopping to do, but I will post again in a few days. A hui ho and Aloha to all
