FIRST PORT: ENSENADA, MEXICO

C. Farias/sunny after the rain
The last few days went fast, superfast. Not enough hours in the day to deal with all the millions of bits and pieces of things that kept popping out, like weeds in the spring. Every time I crossed an item from the list 2 or more appeared. They were breeding right in front of my eyes. Paul, our skipper, was making me envious as he kept crossing items off his list and, with a lot of joy, loudly so I could hear, would say "check". Last night, after dinner, Shiralee and I had to make one last trip into town to get a few things we had forgotten. We were looking for miso soup and couldn't find it anywhere. However, we came back to the boat with my favorite ice cream, that is, New York super fudge chunk chocolate. The name tells it all. No explanations needed.
We finally got it all together, and with enough food to feed an army, and lots of excitement, we did cast off this morning. We had not time to say the proper good byes as we had to leave ahead of a front that is coming through. We motored for the first 3 hours and then a light wind picked up, sails were hoisted, and Mauliola took advantage of every bit of it. She sailed beautifully and we made good time. We were greeted in Ensenada by a large group of sea lyons and I can tell that it is going to be a lively night. They are all talking to each other and checking us out. Tomorrow the forecast is for strong winds and rain. We are at Cruise Port Marina and will stay here for a day or so. Got to say buenas noches and Aloha.
