Friends come to visit

13 September 2015
Pauline
Patricia & Pauline in Ayamonte

From Vila Real we attempted to sail back to Vilamoura to meet Dermott and Jan. With wind and tide against us and three hours of poor progress we turned around and went back. The journey back took less than an hour. With the change of plan, Dermott and Jan took the train the next day and came to meet us. We had a nice chat and a cuppa on board, then they took us out for lunch before getting the train back to Vilamoura to continue their holiday. Such a lovely couple.

The next day we had a visit from a friend and fellow ITU nurse, the vivacious Patricia. We went back across to Ayamonte, then up the Guadiana for a repeat zip wire. Having skydived in New Zealand it was unlikely to even come close for her but she wanted to do it anyway. Before returning west to Lagos we spent a night in Vilamoura. After dining out our usual entertainment consisted of playing cards on the boat. Didn't set the world alight but we had heaps of fun. I love Patricia's contagious laugh.....

Our next visit was from friends Ian and Linda (old sailing buddies and pontoon neighbours from Titchmarsh Marina, east coast UK). Aways a pleasure to spend time with them. They appreciate Sean's pirate jokes and Lin helps him find new material. Lots of laughs. We didn't do much sailing but motored up to the anchorage at Portimao to have lunch in Kalu next to the beach.

About: Welcome to our blog. We are a Fireman and Nurse team (well untill 16th September 2009) when I hope to retire after 30 years service! We graduated to our Malo 36 after a great time in a 4 way syndicate on a Sadler 32 Niobe.
Extra: We bought our boat in Sweden, a one owner Malo 36 , the trip back was 'interesting' to say the least.
