On the Move again

08 April 2008 | Hog Cay, Jumentos
Today we're all heading out. Bodacious to Double-breasted Cay. Boree (Burt and Ingi) are doing the big jump to Flamingo and then Nassau. Pelagic, Ivory Moon and ourselves headed a couple of islands up the chain today - to Buena Vista. We were visited by a helicopter in the afternoon - U.S. Marshalls - soon after we dropped anchor and they circled our small flotilla of boats having a good look at us. Ivory Moon wasn"t flying any flags because they'd all become threadbare from the wind so they looked on them a little suspiciously. They flew around and had a good look at us from the air and then landed on the beach. Ray went ashore to see what they wanted and they said they were looking for a yacht that had gone missing and they suspected had been boarded by Haitian pirates. They gave us a phone number to call if we saw anything suspicious and advised that we shouldn't allow the boat anywhere near ours. I think they thought they were reassuring us when they said the Haitians only had knives aboard and not guns. Whew...was worried there for a minute. Sam and Ray went snorkelling but didn't catch any fish today, but we did get 5 Conch. Both of the spears broke so the food hunting expedition was cut short. Speaking of food, I'm just about out of everything. No flour, only powdered milk, no eggs, no cheese, no fresh meat (except hotdogs and you can't call them meat), no fruit and on to my last pumpkin and half a tired old cabbage. Still have half a packet of instant potato mix but that's a bit dreary on its own. Oh- I've just found a packet of stuffing mix for turkeys that I'm going to whack a can of celery soup and some tinned corn into....mmm. We are starting to appreciate the tins of chicken breast I bought in the U.S. So, I have the Conch marinading in lime juice from a bottle and I'll stew that up for tomorrow's lunch. Off to Water Cay tomorrow morning early. It's about 34 nautical miles so an all day event. We want to cross Hog Cay cut on the high tide at 10am Tuesday morning to get around into Georgetown.

About:
We left Australia on April 29, 2007 to start our 'cruising the world' adventure with an attitude that life's too short and waiting until retirement might mean the adventure never happens. Sam turned 15 this year and we hope these travels will stay with him for life...in a good way. [...]
Extra:
Also travelling with us is our Shih Tsu Milo, a seasoned boat dog all the way from Australia and an avid fisherman. He's always the most enthusiastic when we land a fish or when the bait net is cast. Actually, he's even enthusiastic when we haven't caught anything. He adores dolphins and runs like [...]
