Blog17 - Ocean Racer

Finally! I made it! After crossing the finish line outside of Kinsale harbour, Ireland, I officially became a Clipper Ocean Racer! Giving me something extraordinary to celebrate!
We finished a disappointing race in 9th position around 1pm local time on Monday June 28th. The fleet has set a record speed for the Clipper race crossing the Atlantic Ocean. From Sydney Harbour to Kinsale Harbour, the fleet has set a record flying speed of just 9 days racing! Even if we were the second last boat to arrive.
It was a hard pill to swallow, our position of course. I and most onboard were frustrated and annoyed with some of the tactical decisions made, or well, in most cases decisions NOT made!
However, through the rain and fog, we found our way to the dock and then onward to the Kinsale Yacht Club where we were greeted with a hot meal(either steak and fries or a full Irish breakfast) and of course, complimentary drinks! Needless to say for the rest of the day we didn't wander too far!
