4th position..... That's where we finished race 14, the final race! With the winds getting lighter and lighter, we were quickly losing boat speed, and before I finished my night watch.... Australia had over taken us, and Qingdao was breathing down our neck!
Congrats to Cork skipper and crew, as the pulled out their first win in the whole year! But its disappointing to not stand on the podium for this last haul! I really thought we had it.

This is still nothing really to complain about.... We will be on the overall podium receiving a blue 3rd place banner for all the skill and hard work over the past 10 month from a variety of people from all over the world!

I will continue the updates after we dock, the prize giving ceremony has commenced and I have had a shower before the final crew party tonight!!

And the song she was singing was "Raise Up Ye Faithful Mast: Meredith Conquers the High Seas".

Congratulations Meredith! An overall Third Place Win is fabulous! How proud you must be.....how proud we are of you girlie! I have included two quotes which were favourite quotes of my father (an "Old Salt") who had the love of the sea and sailing within his soul. Perhaps cliche to you, but nonetheless speaks to me the lowly spectator who dreams the dream of sailing the open sea. You lived the dream of many and for that you have the respect of ALL! Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr.: "I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving: To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it,--but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor." And from Kate Chopin's "Awakening": "The voice of the sea speaks to the soul. The touch of the sea is sensuous, enfolding the body in its soft, close embrace." What an incredible adventure! Enjo the remainder of your holiday and I look forward to hearing

Wow Ms. MacNeill, from reading your blogs…that was quite an intense race! Your crew did an excellent job during race 14 and look at it this way, it’s 6 positions away from last place and you guys won 3rd place overall. I think you guys deserved the standing ovation for the extraordinary performances done throughout the race. Many congrats on your achievements, I’d love to hear more about your incredible experience when you get back and have a safe and fun summer!!! :-)
