Goodbye Napa

Yep, we did it. Last night was our last night in Napa. This morning we sailed (okay, motored) toward our old friend the Encinal Yacht Club- not to return (by boat anyway) for a number of years. But as we said good-bye to Napa we realized that... well, we hadn't really said good-bye to anyone else. For the last couple of weeks we have been completely laser-focused on moving out of the house and on to the boat. Then Maddie said, "Are we going to say good-bye to our friends?" oops.
Ever since we decided that yes indeed we were going to try to get out the Gate this summer things have been a little crazy. And though we really didn't have any concrete deadline (other than being in San Diego for the start of the Ha-ha in October) we were certainly working under a self-imposed deadline with the idea that the sooner we could get of our house the sooner we could start renting it and more importantly: the sooner we could stop HEMORAGING money!
So we put our noses down and got to work. And we did it. Here it is August 7th and we have just completed our first leg of THE BIG TRIP. Unfortunately, now we feel a bit as though we've slighted some of our friends. We were so busy and focused on getting moved on the boat that when all was said and done we realized we had no house and no car and we had no choice but to head immediately for Alameda. So if there's anyone out there who is saying something like, "Gee, thanks for saying Good-bye- NOT!" we apologize. And invite you to join us somewhere along our journey. And that way we won't have to say "good-bye".
