Alligators All Around

15 March 2008 | Ixtapa, Mexico
Nancy
...Well, okay... crocodiles... and not really all around... there's really just the one... so far anyway. But he's a biggie. And not afraid to get up close and personal with the folks here in the marina. In fact he seemed particularly interested in Glenn from Tin Soldier. Not sure what that's about... something to do with the purple shirt maybe. All I know is we're walking in THE MIDDLE of the dock!

Anyway, we finally broke free of Zihuatanejo Bay after nearly a month and a half. We've pulled into Marina Ixtapa (about 5 miles north of Zihuat.) for a couple days to finish up our preparations for the "Puddle Jump", the 3+ week crossing of the Pacific Ocean to French Polynesia.

We're basically ready. I have just a bit more shopping to do even though I think I've already lowered our waterline by about a foot. I know, I know... people say you don't need that much food because "people eat everywhere". To which John says in that very un-PC way of his, "Yes, but they eat dog." Regardless, we're pretty sure they don't eat Costco's Kirkland brand canned chicken. (And did Marilyn and I drive 4 hours each way to a Costco in Morelia to track down this particular chicken... along with other hard to find items? You betcha. And we make no apologies. When other cruisers are getting raw behinds using inferior paper products we'll be "sitting pretty".)

Meanwhile, John's working like a madman to get everything top-sides stowed and squared away. No easy task. We received our forecast from Commander's Weather and it looks good so we're shooting for a Monday departure... stay tuned.
