Small craft warning
Hola Amigos,

This is our one week anniversary of leaving MDR.
This day was an E Ride from the get go!
There was a small craft warning but what the heck!
The day before there was a full moon so we thought that we could leave Oceanside early under the full moon. What were we thinking? It was raining and very dark. We apparently have no appreciation of recent history.
We tried to dry our dodger's windows but had a little issue because it was raining.
We waited until sunrise and backed out of our slip. We had a surprisingly easy exit because we had seen waves breaking over the breakwater. We guess that is one of the reasons it is call a breakwater.
We were rocking and rolling and acting obscene (Frank Zappa).
Mary Lee noticed Warship #4 about 4 miles away and did her Warship/Warship thing on the radio because she is a taxpayer. She asked if our AIS was working because we could not see their ship on our screen. We should be happy that someone realized it would not be a good thing to have an AIS target on a Navy Vessel. They responded that they could see us on their AIS. With one call we found out that our AIS broadcasts at least 4 miles and that our radio works. Good thing.
Shortly afterward we were passing our son's home in Carlsbad. He was coming back from dropping his kids off at school and was driving down a hill facing the ocean. He blinked his car lights twice. When we saw them we understood, " One if by land and two if by sea."
Despite 25 knot winds and 10 foot seas, Mary Lee was feeling bored until we approached San Diego Harbor. The Baja Ha Ha ( 200 sailboats sailing down to Cabo) was leaving SD and the Warships coming in were shocked that they had too many targets on their radar and the sailboats were all yelling, "Starboard" which meant that they were sailing and had right of way. The Warships kept on calling ,"Little sailboats, little sailboats" but they finally had to slow down and let the little sailboats go by.
We were coming into the harbor when there was a radio message that a submarine was leaving and everyone should be at least a thousand yards away. We tired to be responsible but it turned straight for us. Luckily they are really fast and we are not emailing you from a Navy Prison.
We some how are safely tied up at the San Diego Yacht Club.

Happy Cosmopolitans ( We think you know what that means) to you until we Blog again.
