Bonus Blog

Hola Amigos,

We are giving you a Bonus Blog because we might not have coverage at out next stop.
Because Martin is Martin, he is a Mac Guy. As you know, no self-respecting Mac Person would leave home without their I Phone. Now Martin can not call people on his phone but his phone can talk to cell towers. With a built in GPS and a good cell tower fix his phone's GPS map is more accurate than ours. That is because it is based on modern satellite cartography and since we are PC people our's is based on 1880 sextant technology. While his phone can be right on the money, in Mexico the Merry Lee's maps can be up to 2 miles off. This is a minor problem when you are off shore but not ideal when approaching land and an anchorage.
We were coming into Turtle Bay and ML asked Martin what our "Real" position was. Turns out the his phone had developed a GUR (Geographical Undesirable relationship) with a cell tower in Vera Cruz and was 350 miles off. Score one small victory for PCs.
To make up for this faux pas, his phone has to tell us that we are now in a new time zone and we need to move our clocks forward an hour. It is all nice and official to have all of the ships clocks to have the correct time but now Lewis has no idea what time to wake up and weigh anchor. Cleverly he did not change his wrist watch so he knows what the Real time is; thus you get a Bonus Blog.
As our loyal readers know, the Merry Lee is a Boat Magnet at night. We have issues when normally there are no boats around. We are trying to dodge the Baja Ha Ha because it is a cruising rally with almost TWO HUNDRED BOATS. Our plan is to now spend one night in Hipolito. While the Ha-Ha's boats are safely anchored in Bahia Santa Maria, we will passed them and do a 2 night overnight passage to Cabo.

Happy Real Trails to you until we Blog again.
