WEATHER, WETHER, OR WHATEVER
23 November 2010 | Palmera Marina, La Paz
Hola Amigos,
We are stuck in La Paz with the weather window blues again. It's that age old question, "Is a bird in the hand worth more than two in the bush?" We could have made the "Southern Crossing", which is crossing from southern Baja to Mazatlan, by leaving today. We would have had moderate but doable conditions.
After reviewing Solmatesantiago weather, Geary's Sea of Cortez weather, Passage Weather and WetSand SwellWatch, we decided to go with the "two in the bush" i.e. leave Saturday for Los Muertos (60 miles) and leave there early Sunday. We should have smooth seas and a nice wind. We would try to reach El Cid (190 miles) before the "DreadedDredger" goes in to action Monday morning.
Since we have been sitting on the "Crossing " fence, we may have missed the Turkey Dinner Window. Club Cruceros is having turkey dinner for 200 Cruisers on Thursday. We are on the waitlist but with a 20 Peso ($1.60) charge it is doubtful that we will get in. We probably will just have Thanksgiving dinner( consisting of barely potable water and hardtack ) alone on the Merry Lee.
Happy Turkey Trails to you until we Blog again,
The Merry Lee
