The Bash
05 May 2009 | La Paz
Hola Amigos,
The Merry Lee has been in La Paz getting ready to do "The Bash".
What is "The Bash"?
We came down on the Baja Ha Ha which was a downwind trip. A common saying in sailing is," Gentlemen don't go to weather." Going to weather means going into wind and waves. That is what the Bash is all about. Luckily we are not Gentlemen but we still don't like going to weather.
For the last month the winds have been NW 25 to 35 knots with waves up to 12 to 14 feet. We may be lucky and get a weather window to go north. 1000 miles of hell at 5 knots is 200 hours.
We are leaving La Paz in the AM and will be going to Cabo to check out the conditions.
You can check out Baja weather on www.solmatesantiago and click on weather and click on the outside of Baja.
Wish us lucky sails until we blog again.
