DREAMS DO COME TRUE

09 April 2011 | MARINA DE LA PAZ
Hola Amigos,

Let the let down begin.
How much fun can you have in less than 5 days? The answer is way too much.
Shortly after the Grandkids touched down they were whisked to a local Palapa on the beach. Papa was in heaven because he was able to watch the Final of The Dance while playing soccer with the kids in the sand. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Actually it does because the next day we set off for the Islands. We anchored at one of our favorite spots, Ensenada Grande. Before the hook was set, we had the dingy down and headed for the white sand beach. A local outfit was setting up camp for some divers. As is typical in Mexico they told us we could feel free to use their kayaks. It was magical seeing the family paddle on the crystal clear aqua water. That night we had our usual night winds and seas but luckily only the Grandparents lost sleep.
The next morning was finally a leisurely wake up with nothing productive happening until the afternoon. While the Kids swam and paddled we prepared guacamole and salsa. They then got to see how a spontaneous party occurs in the cockpit of the Merry Lee. We had old friends drop by and then invited new ones on board to celebrate another beautiful Sunset.
We wanted to show everyone that going back to La Paz was going to be a piece of cake. We almost made it back when we were boarded by the Mexican Navy. To add another degree of difficulty, while showing them our papers we had to dodge a large Navy Destroyer coming into port. Just as we thought the coast was clear we found ourselves in the middle of a sailboat race.
After mucho hugs and kisses, on Friday they departed the totally devastated Merry Lee. Luckily Papa had a serious electrical problem to occupy his mind and Mary Lee was in a major Bridge Tournament for the La Paz Bay Fest. She is in second place but Lewis is telling her to settle down because first place owns the Marina. We might be dropping the hook in the Anchorage after today’s matches.

Happy Magical Trails to you until we Blog again,

The Merry Lee
