BACK IN THE USSA
07 May 2011 | SAN DIEGO YACHT CLUB
Hola Amigos,
Soo Sorry but we had an uneventful trip from Coral Marina to San Diego. We had gentle winds, easy seas and a current pushing us up. We left at 5: 30 AM and arrived at the San Diego Border Patrol Dock (San Diego Bay is on the border?) at 3 PM. We got prompt service so The Border Patrol were at the docks in 20 minutes. They scoured our boat and found 3 hard boiled eggs. 4 are a Federal case but 3 are OK. We have gone 900 miles since leaving La Paz 11 days ago.
We were assigned slip D32 at the San Diego Yacht Club. After waiting for all of the racing sail boats( Its Saturday Race Day) to get to their slips we took a peek at our’s. Not only was our slip occupied, there were TWO boats in it. We called the Dock master and got reassigned to the slip next to “Stars and Stripes”. This is Dennis Conner’s sail boat. He has won an America’s Cup, he just won the New Port to Ensenada race. He is Vice Commodore of the SDYC. If we hit his boat coming in our Yacht Club life is over.
Well we are safely in our slip ready to visit another Yacht Club in the future.
We leave tomorrow for Mother’s Day at Dana Point. Looks like a weather front is going through and we might have to wait until Tuesday to go to MDR. Seeing grandchildren 2 days in a row is not a bad thing.
Happy Smooth trails to you until we Blog again
The Merry Lee
