A Blog that did not make it to the satellites in the sky
Hola Amigo's.We were planning on another boring day.We had Wifi for a hot second in Chamela Bay. Probably it was ML's Gardian Angel's allowing her to talk to her sons and daughters and grandchildren. We lifted anchor shortly after sunrise. The seas were flat so Lewis was actually able to take a picture of a sea turtle that looks more like a turtle than a cornflake.3 miles from our destination we met a panga fishing boat. They waved us through. We thought we were safe until we saw that we were again dragging a mile of fishing line and plastic bottles.Lewis dove under the boat to remove line around the keel and ended up on the otherside. The fishermen in perfect English yelled"Where iis he?Where is he?" unaware that he was on the otherside.Lewis tried to remove the line wrapped around the shaft but the hull kept on hitting him on the head.Instead of getting a concussion,he said,"Good enough for goverment work".We gave the fishermen some beer and water. It was a good move because we met them again 2 miles later. They gave us better directions the second time, thank goodness!
It is a 4 mile vovage up the bay where we were welcomed by Dolphins and sailfish. After anchoring in this beautiful bay,Lewis dove to assess the damage. We had lost the zinc off the prop(it protects the metal such as thru hulls from melting from wayward electrical currents). He had to learn how to replace those anyway. He was not able to unwrap the line around the shaft. Another boat(Four Points) saw our dilemma(there are few secrets in the bay when everyone has binnoculars). They swam over to help us. Using a combination of knives, saws and plyers the line was off.Unfortuneatly so was a black round object that looked like a seal. Hopefully it is was more for decoration than sealing. We will probably find out sometime in the future and will let you know.We had cellebratory maragritas while drip drying in ths cockpit.
Today is the self guided Jungle River dingy cruise. There are Palapas at the turn around point for lunch. Hopefully it will not be longer than a 4 hour cruise. Tomorrow is Bahia Navidad.
SPR thanks for your help. Let us know if you received this message and if you were able to contact the Marina in Navidad.
Happy unintaglements to you until we blog again.
