Another lunch to remember
10 February 2009 | PV
Hola hungry and thirsty Amigos,
We had listened to the net, turned in our laundry, chitchatted on the dock and were ready for a break. Our friends on Alegria asked us to join them to go to Mauricio's for lunch. "Why not?" It took 2 buses and a 1 Km walk through an industrial section of PV. We had to look out for potholes in front of us and semi's behind us. Luckily we trust this couple or we may have turned back.
We finally arrived and sat down. If you order a cerveza they immediately bring you an ice bucket of 6, not knowing how thirsty you may be. They then brought us each a cup of fish soup (lots of lime makes it better), a small tostada of marlin and a small shot of Tequila.
Alegria warned us about the portion size because this place is in the industrial area with many hungry hombres. We split one order of 2 whole red snappers, rice, salad and bread. They then brought more Tequila shots.
The cooks and waiters all stopped, made a circle, and performed what we presumed to be a ritual chant to help employee morale. Lewis is planning on bringing this ritual back to Kaiser as "BEST PRACTICES".
They then brought us each a plate of broiled plantains for dessert and a plate of Tequila shots before they brought "La Quinta". Clever way to improve the tip. Just in case they gave us all mints.
There were roosters, hens, and chicks cleaning up the crumbs on the floor. We now know what "Free Range Chicken" means. Someone would suspect an alternative motive from the management there but this was a seafood restaurant. If you were an Agave plant here, you would be at risk.
Two hours after walking into the place we left $21 a couple lighter.
Happy Customer Service to you until we Blog again.
