Boat Names

Hola Amigos, Writing about our cruise in 90/91, brought back many nice memories. One thing that we have noticed: while the "Merry Lee"'s name is the same, sailboat names seemed to have changed a little. It used to be that every other boat was named after a star or weather phenomenon. Cruisers seem to have added a little more personal touch now. "Warren Peace" is a play on the Warren's name. "4-P.A.C.K" is named after Patrick, Andrea, Casey, and Karl. "Murray Grey" is named after the owner's prized heifers. "Optical Illusion" 's skipper is an Optometrist. "Alegria" is a play off the owner's name Alicia ( who was born in Mexico) and the Spanish word meaning "Happiness".
While sailboats tend to have more romantic names, many powerboats have less original names. No one can forget Gary Hart's fall from grace on "Monkey Business". There must be 100 fishing boats named" Hooked Up" or "Lucky Strike". The Mega yacht on the end of our dock is named" Fourbillon". Maybe the owner's name is Bill. The lady's favorite was the Mega yacht "Sin or Swim".
One of our favorite names is" Someday Isle".
Hopefully "Someday You'll" before we Blog again.
