Feeding Frenzy

Katie
The fish cleaning stations in on the docks and marinas attract schools of sharks and rays. They are conditioned to come in hoards every day and feed on the offal the fishermen throw into the water as they clean their catches. At Staniel Cay Yacht Club I walked down the cement stairs into the water so I could pet one of the nurse sharks. It took awhile, ongoing encouragement from spectators, and quite a few jumps back up to higher steps as the sharks were cruising by before mustering up the courage to finally caress one along the back as it glided by.
