Treasure Cay

13 March 2014 | Treasure Cay, Great Abaco Island
Greg/Mary Windy
We sailed from Great Guana Cay to Treasure Cay in 15-30knts of wind. It kept increasing which is why we decided to come here. This is a very protected anchorage and Marina. We decided to stay at the Marina to get batteries charged. Another wonderful place with great people. We are greeted by one of the other sailboat owners on the dock who invited us to 5:00 happy hour. This is not a dry dock is the sign posted at the end of our dock. There are about 10-20 people that gather every night at 5:00. We have not missed one yet and even decided this was such a great place that we will stay a week. Most of the other people are from Canada and come down here for the winter. Some sail all the way down, but most leave their boat here or in Florida.
This wild and crazy bunch told us about Old Geezers Spring Break being held Thursday-Sunday March 20-23 at Nippers. There is a local musician for the Barefoot man concert. Music starts at 1:00pm and ends at 6:00 in time for us all to get to bed. No late nights for these old geezers. We plan to leave on Wed to part of this.

About: Greg has been sailing since he was 21. I grew up in North Dakota and started taking advantage of the constant winds. After selling my bicycle store in 2006 we got more serious about living our dream on a sailboat. Greg and his wife purchased Mile High Dream in 2013.
Extra:
Greg and Mary had owned Nada Mas, a 23' South Coast, on Lake Dillon in Colorado for 33 years. We chartered in the Caribbean and Calif. numerous times. We were excited to begin our dream. While waiting for a weather window in the Truks and Caicos, Mary died unexpectedly Jan. 6 2015 after a [...]
