greg/ mary sunny with slight breeze
The 30 knot winds died overnight and we awoke to beautiful calm seas. Mary released the lines from the mooring ball and off we went.
This trip has not been as much fun as we had planned. Last year it was all about the journey with no schedules in mind. This year we are trying to get to the Turks and Caicos so we can fly to New Hampshire for Christmas. Spending 13 days in Bimini took away our leisure time to see the Exumas. Sadly we had to miss Staniel Cay with the wild swimming pigs and the Thunderball Grotto from James Bond. With our shortened schedule we will have to miss some great places.
The day ended at Black point, the second largest town in the Exumas. It might have 500 people living there. This is not a tourist town and has some very good local restaurants. We both indulged on a local fresh fish sandwich. It was delicious. As we strolled thru town we saw the children in their school uniforms. Girls in skirts and boys in ties. They were having a Christmas celebration and we watched them carry the decorated Christmas tree to the different classrooms. With all of the excitement and noise they were making, I do not think learning was a top priority today .
We went back to the boat to plan tomorrow’s day.
